Rise & Grind (But Make it Fun!): My 5 Must-Do Morning Rituals

Let’s be real, mornings can be a struggle. Especially when you’re running your own show and the to-do list is already a mile long before you even roll out of bed.

The snooze button is always tempting, but I’ve learned the hard way that how you kick-start your day sets the tone for everything else.

Over the years, I’ve tried all sorts of morning routines. Some stuck, some were a total flop. But I’ve finally landed on a few non-negotiables that help me feel energized, focused, and (dare I say it?) excited to tackle the day.

So, grab your favourite mug (mine’s filled with pine needle tea!) and let’s dive in!

  1. H2-Oh-Yeah!

I chug a big glass of water before I even think about brewing my pine needle tea. Sometimes, I jazz it up with lemon or cucumber, but plain ol’ H2O does the trick, too.

Staying hydrated is like a magic potion for your brain and body. It helps me feel more awake and less foggy, which is crucial when you’re running a business.

  1. Get Moving

I’m not talking about a marathon here. Just something to get the blood flowing and the endorphins pumping. It could be a quick yoga flow, a walk around the block (while my cats supervise from the window!), or a full-on gym session if I’m feeling ambitious.

Whatever it is, getting my body moving in the morning helps me shake off the cobwebs and feel more energized for the day ahead.

  1. Inbox Zero Bliss (Thanks to my VA!)

This one’s a game-changer. Instead of starting my day drowning in emails, my amazing VA, Rose, has my inbox under control. She filters out the noise, flags anything urgent, and even drafts responses to routine inquiries.

Waking up to a clean inbox? That’s the kind of morning zen I can get behind.

  1. Breakfast of Champions

I’m a firm believer that breakfast is NOT optional. I fuel up with something packed with protein and healthy fats, like eggs and avocado toast or a smoothie bowl.

A good breakfast keeps me going strong all morning, so I’m not reaching for sugary snacks or crashing by 10 AM.

  1. Tag-Team with My VA

Before I dive into the workday, I have a quick check-in with Rose. We go over my priorities for the day, make sure we’re on the same page, and she updates me on anything urgent that’s come up.

It’s like having a co-pilot for my business. Knowing she’s got my back frees me up to focus on the big picture stuff.
